Welcome to October! It’s been a busy month for the HOTHC! Representatives will be attending the Texas Homeless Network Conference next week, participating in Get to Know Waco College Day on October 8th, and visiting different organizations and attending meetings the rest of the month. Our membership and community awareness is growing!

Our next meeting will be October 23rd at 11:45 a.m. at Heart of Texas Region MHMR. The lunch will be hosted by Living Word Church of God in Christ.

Do you have friends who are interested in working to end homelessness and poverty? Please forward this newsletter to them and Invite them to our October meeting!

 Project Homeless Connect Meeting Oct. 9th

The next meeting of the 2010 Project Homeless Connect Committee is this Friday, October 9th at noon in the 4th floor conference room at City Hall (300 Austin Ave.). It’s not too late to sign up! Please feel free to bring your lunch. For more information, please e-mail Chelle at Chelles@ci.waco.tx.us.
 
 
 

  Texas Homeless Network Conference NEXT WEEK!

The Texas Homeless Network annual conference is next week, October 14-16 in San Antonio. It is not too late to sign up! Visit www.thn.org for all the details.
 
 
 
 

Your Help is Needed

We will be performing a panhandling survey in the Public Improvement District on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7. We are in need of volunteers to speak with local panhandlers and help us find out how they are in need. A training session with dinner will be provided. For more information, contact Chelle at chelles@ci.waco.tx.us or call 254-750-5967.

Our next monthly meeting will be Friday, October 23 ***NOTE DATE CHANGE***

Get to Know Waco College Day is
TONIGHT
The HOTHC will have a booth at the Get to Know Waco College Day event on Thursday, October 8th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center. If you’d like to come out and speak with college students about the coalition, we’d love to have you! We will be passing out information about the coalition and its member organizations. If you have info to share, please bring items to the convention center before 5 p.m.

The air is brisk and leaves are falling from the trees. (At least on the day of this newsletter!) We in Texas know the saying “if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change.” And, we all know it’s true!
 
But, for most of us, we have warm clothes to wear and warm homes to return to at the end of the day. Our friends who are homeless do not. If you have gently worn, washable coats that you no longer need, please consider donating them to the Heart of Texas Homeless Coalition’s 2010 Project Homeless Connect.
