A Continuum of Care (CoC) is a group of community organizations which receive funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Each year a notification of funding availability is published by HUD.  The Heart of Texas Homeless Coalition (HOTHC) is the Continuum of Care and collaborative applicant for the annual CoC Program competitive grant from HUD. HOTHC applies for funding as a group to fund programs to end homelessness in the Heart of Texas region (Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan Counties).

The purpose of the CoC Program is to:

  • Promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness
  • Provide funding for efforts to re-house homeless individuals/families rapidly while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities as a consequence of homelessness
  • Promote access to and effective use of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families
  • Optimize self-sufficiency among individuals/families experiencing homelessness

Area agencies receiving funding in the Continuum of Care Grant are:
